Full backs at the heart of the problem 09:04 - Feb 10 with 612 viewsBlueGoonie

Chambo & Ward were shown up last night big time, the positive impact that Matheson & Kenlock have had in such a short time clearly demonstrate that these two “hardened veterans” are both past it. I love Chambo as a captain and he’s been a great club servant, but it’s time to realise we need these young lads as our first choice full backs, and KVY next season IF (big if) he’s fit.

Chambers is a 35 year old CB, I'm not sure why anyone, let alone someone whose job it is to be a football manager, thought he'd be capable of bombing up and down the flack week in and week out for over half a season. It's madness. Stoke fans said Ward's legs have gone and it looks like they were right. Playing with no wide players ahead of them didn't help their cause much last night but everyone bar those paid to get results here could see that the line up was a car crash.

That set up last night, with a narrow midfield and 2 ball players as your wide midfielders just didn't give them a hope in hell.

A failure of management to set them up like that to fail

The sad thing is fans knew exactly what was going to happen once the team was announced.

We were just given false hope with an early goal.
