Brett M Johnson... genuine question... on 22:26 - Mar 3 with 1101 views | SomethingBlue | Phoenix have gone from nowhere to being perhaps the best team in US's second tier and firmly in the shakeup for an MLS place.

I don't know much about USL, is it very competitive?

Brett M Johnson... genuine question... on 22:31 - Mar 3 with 1033 views | Chrisabian | Just touched upon in the other thread, but Phoenix Rising and the Danish team, FC Helsingor, seem to have made big strides forward under the ownership of Brett and the other members of the consortium. Worth checking both clubs out and reading up on their history in recent years.
Brett M Johnson... genuine question... on 22:31 - Mar 3 with 1028 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | Well the best thing we can say is that all of the clubs that he is involved with are doing/have done well. They also have a lot of forward momentum. Off the pitch the local areas have benefitted etc.

Good to see that local areas benefit. Ipswich has struggled so badly as a town, and will need any help it can get after the pandemic. Town should be buzzing every Saturday. Ipswich doing well, upper Championship or Premiership, is worth a few million to the local economy at least.

Competitive with what? With each other, yes. With second-tier teams in Europe, no. The overall quality of the USL is below League One, but some teams (including Phoenix Rising) have a significant number of foreign players who shine. Home-grown US players in USL teams are usually plodding, otherwise they would be in the top tier (the MSL). USL League One, the tier below the USL, is gaining popularity in smaller communities where they are the only professional team in town. The level is comparable to that of a team like AFC Sudbury. However, a smattering of foreign players and coaches adds interest, and some games at this level are streamed nationally on ESPN+.
