McCarthy wasn't given anything in the Summer of 2015 when we were only a couple of players from promotion to the Prem, so if that wasn't enough to persuade him to spend then nothing will be.
However, Cook doesn't need extra funding. Evans' financing was an excuse for not being top 6 in the Championship but not down in League 1. We have a play-off budget in this league, if not an automatic promotion budget. |

The Murphy goals definitely helped the team to perform better than the sum of its' parts, but it's worth remembering we got 78 points that year, which is enough points to finish 4th or 5th most seasons, despite only qualifying for the play offs on goal difference. It's also not true to say we weren't successful against the top teams - we doubled Watford that season and also got wins against Brentford, Wolves and Middlesbrough. Typically, it was only against Norwich that we never looked like competing.
The next season we'd have been in the play offs again had Fraser not been injured, so I don't think it's wild to suggest that with a decent attacking midfielder and a specialist right-back, we'd have had a shot at the top 2 that year.
Perhaps that's a slightly rose tinted view, but we weren't far off. |  |

Also helps for those up the road. They maintained high attendances and support when times went downwards
With our fanbase it doesnt take long before we seem to run for the hills. Boycott club spending etc. Then moan about lack of investment etc after. |

That’s not actually true though. Our record vs the rest of the top 5 that season was P10, W4, D3, L3, so we actually won more games against the best sides in the division than we lost |  |
