When Paul Cook wakes up this morning, will he regret waiting around, and passing up other clubs, for the Town job?
Did he seriously misjudge the enormity of the task at hand?
Did he realise what a dire bunch of lazy, incompetents - with one or two exceptions- that he’d inherited?

No. He needed a squad though. This idea that he could have had a quality squad of 20 or an average squad of 25+ is absolutely not true. He had a core of about 10 decent players and the rest were average squad fillers. |  |

That was the odd thing, fans blinding themselves to the squad's inadequacies so as to blame Lambert.
It is only now that the Emperor's clothes is not an observation by one child. The current talk is suddenly how bad the players are, and so who is responsible for recruiting them, The former being both obvious, on the pitch and off in the league table.
How is it that successive managers have been dragging in freebies and has beens who at best last a season... or two ?

Mick also recruited a large number of players, many of whom were cheap punts who had mercifully short Town careers. That's the nature of shopping in the bargain basement. Hopefully Cook, who is experienced in the lower leagues, will have a good idea of affordable targets, although we all said that about Hurst, who basically signed a bunch of duds. |  |

Well yes of course, but normally with a transfer window and a pre season to start with, and then another window midway through it if help still needed.
In March with 0 training time, with a side who are scared to score etc, it's a different job.
But hey ho, it is what it is, lets see if how it looks next week | |
