I get that he has a preferred style of play and formation but has he honestly not adapted his team and tactics during his long spell as a manager?
I fear he is going down the dogmatic route that we saw with Lambert. We need to be more flexible and play with the players we have. Our wingers don’t create. Our full backs aren’t mobile enough to bing uo and down the pitch and outer central midfield is lightweight.
A good old fashioned 4-4-2 would suit us better. |  |

Considering it's the most well known, stereotypical, 'basic' formation in football it's quite a surprising thing to read.
Lambert similarly wasn't keen on it, though. |

It is amazing that two managers have come in and tried to make it work in a similar way but despite it failing continuing to push it. I know Evans said he had a style he's wanted Hurst, Lambert and Cook to implement but if he's not going to give managers freedom to adapt the tactics then we really will struggle. I'd take Mick football if it got us promoted. |  |
