Just tuned into BBC Four....first track played was arguably The Stones's greatest track.....Gimme Shelter. Still sends shivers down the spine when I hear it .
Friday nights on BBC Four are generally hugely entertaining.

I hope to have a pint with you sometime soon PJH. I must admit I do like the Cherry Tree, I used to pop in there daily only a couple of years ago and back daily. Fantastic pub.
We will hook up after the madness.
You are not banned from there?
That would be nice your Lordship.

Yep I know that one-got it on a compilation LP entitled 'Hard Up Heroes' which also includes pre-fame Rod Stewart, David Bowie and Steve Marriott along with several others.
edit-Nashville Teens, according to the album sleeve, were Rae Phillips, Art Sharp, John Hawkins, John Allen, Pete Shannon, and Barry Jenkins.

The Sharp one...ended up involved with Sharon Osborne's dad! A certain Mr Arden!
Edit...he tells a tale of Don Arden hanging someone out of a window by their ankles.

I quite liked some of their 70's stuff which people ignore, especially Some Girls, and I really like Star Star as a track.

I ***ing love them, my old man was at Hyde Park up a tree in 69. Seen them in 99 at Wembley, 06 at Twickenham and 18 at Wet Spam's new ground. They've still got it, Mick Jagger in his 70s still a ball of energy up and down all night sounding as good as ever. Their gigs are really good in that you will have grandparents who got into them at the time with their kids and their kids, you'll see a few times 3 generations of Stones fans.

I was stage building for that 99 one...not my thing but had a good view.

I am most definitely tolerated. I get on quite well with the lanky blonde bird, she has a weird name. Thalia or something like that.
A few years back I was going though a really bad time and we had storage at Bentwaters, thing is The Cherry Tree opened at 10am and things were so bad I used to be on their doorstep when they opened.
Haven't been in there for a while.

Gimme Shelter is the nuts. It is constantly up there in my top one.
My favourite Stones song too and one of the best intros of all time. Still gives me shivers. I've seen the Stones many times the most memorable of which was at Twickenham Stadium early noughties. The highlight for me was Gimme Shelter. From a 2nd row seat, I saw Jagger and Lisa Fischer screaming at each other "It's just a kiss away, kiss away..." Awesome. The Young brothers from ACDC joined them on stage at one point for a great rendition of Rock Me Baby. I was earning good money then and I'd spent over a grand on eBay for a pair of the best tickets available but due to a last moment 'domestic' I'd ended up going alone. After the gig I was queuing to get out of the carpark opposite, top down with stones music playing and two girls and a bloke came over and asked me if I was going into London. I said no I wasn't but when they told me they'd missed the transport that had been laid on to take them to the official after party at a hotel in Marylebone I realised I'd said Yes I Am wrong. One of the girls (they were both beautiful) had long blond hair and a gorgeous Texan drawl. Turned out she was Jerry Hall's niece. I had to stop at a garage for her to get smokes. I can still visualise her in the passenger seat with her Texan beauty and her long blond hair trailing in the wind elegantly smoking and chatting away in her accent. Of course the Stones themselves were too cool to go to the afterparty. Apparently they'd repaired to Jagger's suite at Claridge's. All the backing musicians were there though. I met Lisa amongst others. Unfortunately I felt I had to decline most of the ahem imbibements that were on offer as I had to drive home at some point (I should have just booked into the hotel). I had a couple of drinks with the Texan lady though. Got on well with her. Under different circumstances...(well I like to dream!)

I can't tolerate Bill Wyman. He was on record of going with Mandy Smith when she was 14 or 15. I still can't understand why it has never since been spoken about.
In any case, Ronnie Wood is more of a Stone, even though he got there a bit late.
I have probably bored you before about my last Stones episode - but if you don't mind I will repeat myself because I never tire of reminiscing.
I had a bundle of tickets for Hyde Park, I think it was 2013. Anyhoo, I took the Mrs, kids, honorary daughter and best mate. It was a blast, one of my top 5 days in my life.
Anyhoo - the queue to the bar was not worth considering to attempt - and this is from a borderline alcoholic. Not 100% sure but we might have had a bit of chang keeping us going. Anyway, what happened was - I looked down at the floor at one point and spotted a whole case of individual bottles of wine. By an act of God I reckon one of the trolleys replenishing the bars had dropped this case at my feet.
Praise the lord
Bill Woman’s son was dating Mandy’s mum. How fecked up is that?

Any of you really old fekkers know this one....Miss Slave's uncle Arthur was in them.
I remember it well (as a very young kid obviously). Featured insanely fast piano. One of the band (can’t remember which) is still on the circuit in the North London/Home Counties musical scenes I frequent (or rather was before the madness ðŸ™)

Yep without doubt! You may already know that Taylor guested with them a few years ago (2013?) for their anniversary tour and at Glastonbury for Midnight Rambler and Can’t you hear me Knocking. I was at one of the O2 arena dates. Unforgettable!

I don't think that I have been in The Cherry Tree for almost ten years.
My late best mate used to do quiz nights in there and we went back there for sarnies and much alcohol after his funeral, that was in May 2011.

That's a really cool story, although to be quite honest SBB you arguably couldn't have handled that situation worse.

What is your pub of choice PJH?
I have to admit as much as I love Woodbridge I do find the pubs a bit of a strain. I went there with the Mrs a few years back, we were both trying to straighten out after having a bit of a night and we decided a visit to Woodbridge would be a good idea to get us back to some sort of normality. It was a Sunday and every pub was so quiet, there were people about but they were all engrossed in their broad sheets and even if you whispered you felt that you were breaking some kid of noise threshold.
The Anchor was ok but it's a Greene King pub and they sell sh1te.

I do not use any pubs just for drinking these days (even when I could) although I had met up with another TWTDer a couple of times for a few pints at The Kings Head on Market Hill. They had Ghost Ship and Broadside there last time I was there so assume they still do.
Wife and I and sometimes my late best mates widow used to go out most weeks for a pub meal but not actually in Woodbridge.
(I am actually more fun than this is sounding btw).
I would very happily meet you at The Cherry Tree if that was what you wanted.
I used to be involved in some spectacular pub crawls in Woodbridge at Christmas and New Year but that was a long time ago.

The Kings Head is that dog pub at the top of the hill isn't it? I was tripping in their once and was convinced that the pub was going to fall down the hill.
Be glad to meet up anywhere once all the cr4p is over.
