Why the outrage.

Nowhere near good enough. But ...

He came from Ireland as a punt and will be one of, if not the lowest earner around the first team regularly. So we’ve simply agreed to extent that for a player that probably won’t feature but is a backup in Cooks preferred system who could improve at 23 and be half decent.

Chances are he won’t get a look in but it’s not as if he’s on £10k a week is it.

Would be very strange to trigger a 1-year renewal just to send the lad out on loan. Why put yourself on the hook for his wages so he can play for someone else for 12 months then reappear at the end of his contract?

What would be the potential upside?

He's probably on wages where it would be almost fully covered by even a league two side.

The upside?

If he does well we can give him a new deal on better terms than most of the these two leagues could and still be relatively cheap for us. There's plenty of upside and not a lot of downside.

Truly impaired.

I don't think he's that bad - showed some decent signs and a role like that is one which normally comes on more as you get older....you don't get many good young target men. He's always been someone who has found loans easy to come by which shows he has a good attitude etc.

I think we need to try and shift Jackson and Hawkins though

I think he’s alright.

Got pace, work rate, physical presence,

Not like we’ve thrown a hundred chances at him and he’s fluffed them into the stands.

Strikers need service, I think he can do a job, when others do theirs.

Miffed on Nydam after comments earlier from Cook though, must be confident on getting a good LB or happy Downes is staying for the central 2 in midfield.

I don't quite understand the vilification of Drinan on here either. Yes, he hasn't looked great, but not many strikers would have done so in a hopeless Town team. He works hard & he's looked more like a footballer than a certain Kieffer Moore, whom we all said was hopeless when we let him go at an older age. Plenty of us didn't think Jon Walters was up to it when we signed him from Chester, aged 24.
