I don't get it, it's clearly a public health issue and we stopped all tobacco advertising which was prevelant in various sports, added hugely to the treasury, but they won't do anything about this. |  |

Is a numbers game, suicides from gambling addiction compared to deaths from tobacco/cancer. And the costs of treatments of smoking related illness vs treating gambling addiction.
Clearly gambling is harmful to any addicts. But I suspect the 4.3bn tax take will outweigh the social costs.
Perhaps the biggest issue is how in game adverts and shirt sponsors target kids who will grow up with betting completely normalised. The social costs we have now will only get worse in the years ahead. |  |

And the social costs of ingame betting adverts were always predictable.
Making betting easy (on your phone, in match) and normalising it was never going to end well for anyone except the gambling companies. | |

Not only that but some of those games which contain adverts actually have proper adverts for betting companies within them. |  |
