I think some people are putting things off too - and quite a significant number from some of the estimates I've seen. That's borne out by people I know, although obviously that's not representative, etc.
I think it's a real problem and a genuine concern. But then I don't think that will change now either. Those who've put stuff off because they're nervous aren't going to feel any happier with the reduced controls are they? So they may still put things off. If I was them I'd probably wait a few weeks to see how this third wave develops tbf. |
There's an element of siezing the moment here. I think we should fully expect a winter lock down of sorts, respiratory illness accelerates hard In these months. 20000 cases in non ideal virus breeding conditions is quite frightening.
What we have also been fortunate of so far is that we see a strain almost burn out before it mutates, as more mutagens enter the field of play there is the risk this winter we could be dealing with a double mutagen wave which may not be vaccine covered then we will be back to square one with the vaccine roll out. The flu jab was developed over many many years and itself saves many lives but is effective because there are a large pool of strains to select and forecast from. We will enter a period at some point with the virus where we get a little caught out and any saving grace given to us by current vaccine efficacy will need to be combatted again.
