It really infuriates me that these billionaires have spent billions polluting our atmosphere on vanity projects. Their trips serve no scientific benefits. Can someone please make a case for them?

Just to highlight another analysis I heard on this point (not my analysis):

Historically it has always been the case that the rich are the early adopters of these new technologies, they spend a fortune and then the benefits are eventually seen by all.

Cars were only for the wealthy for quite some time as were planes. Would you have been making the same objections about those technologies at the time when with hindsight we know how vital they have become?
