Its alot lot easier to follow trackside than it is on tele, as they always focus on tv to close ups on the sprint finish and only some of the changeovers,or lap gain attempts because those are the action bits, but then you never know who is the active rider of the pair or who is leading as they miss critical bits and it just looks like chaos, doesnt help some tv commentators go completely overboard on describing the action either.
Whilst trackside you see the whole track so you can see the active riders and the ones recovering and even predict the changeovers, and follow attempts at taking a lap, and the official points to the person technically in the lead
But basically it's a 120 lap race for the women, 200 laps for the men with points awarded for 1st 2nd 3rd in sprints which are held every 10 laps, and even more points for gaining a lap, 2 riders ride it like a tag team and they tag in/out by the hand sling swap.
