The government need to scrap the ridiculous CPC training. Basically you have to do 40 hours , spread over five days, of sitting there listening to someone telling you how to do your job. The bits you didn't know you forget within a week. The courses are online and our instructor said he didn't care what we did as long as he could see us. You could tell most people were watching TV. Waste of time and money. |
It's an industry that makes money now so won't get changed. Actually done properly I think it could be a good thing, but it's a sham at the moment.

They have changed it now so you have to do five different subjects. We had a driver who did four days on the same subject! The really stupid thing is that after a year you can do one day a year and will automatically get your CPC card sent to you after five years. As you say it's a sham and an expensive one. |  | | |

Yes, this is correct, however the driver shortage is currently standing at 100,000 in the UK alone, Brexit has had an impact but so has IR35 and Covid just as if not more significantly. I’m not pro Brexit but it’s too simplistic just to blame Brexit. The Government were warned 5 years ago, unless this change there will be a driver shortage of 50,000 in the UK, which they’ve ignored. Chuck in Brexit, IR35 and Covid this has double to cause the UK supply chain to come grinding to a halt |  | | |
