Whilst on the face of it it seems an awful thing to say about two people killed, it’s a common piece of American law when the accused pleads self defence.
The judge is just enforcing state law. Nothing to see here, albeit the high profile nature of the case means the papers and news sites are reporting as if the judge has made this choice as a one off decision when that’s a fair way from the truth.
Source - I studied Law at A-Level and one of the things we covered was the differentials between UK and American laws on certain things. And this sort of scenario came up in passing.
Even for the US, it appeared to be too far gone if the original report was accurate. Interesting that most MSM are taking the original tweet line, not the Wisconsin law line.
