After 15/16 games last season 10:47 - Oct 31 with 720 viewsDinnernotTea

The top 6 was:

Hull
Lincoln
Ipswich
Portsmouth
Peterborough
Charlton

Blackpool in 12th
Oxford in 21st

So two gate crashed the play offs.

Blackpool & Oxford stuck with their managers. Both doing OK right now.

Depends what glass you drink out of I guess.

We’d have made Playoffs had Cook not been appointed by Evans.

You said we've spent £50m. I don't think many will go to you for lottery numbers with your predictions!

Very quiet on the Blackpool & Oxford situations last season.

Oxford had a little run of 13 games in the middle of the season where they won 9, drew 2 and lost 2. They won 6 of their last 7. They got in on 74 points (6th).

Blackpool only lost 3 of their last 26. They got in on 80 points (3rd).

I think 6th could end up being closer to 80 then 74 this season. It is far from impossible but the above sums up the type of form we need to show between now and the end of the season.

Yeah, well after 15/16 games Gillingham were 11th (our current position), and they finished 10th.

Of course teams can go on good runs and end up gatecrashing the playoffs, but lets not pretend that its the norm. It is far from ideal to be relying on that type of run, and to be blunt, at no point yet under Cook have we looked capable of it.

Obviously not ruling it out here, and as I've said on numerous times we're on a decent run recently, but we need to end on the right side of those fine margins in games like yesterday or we'll ultimately finish the season very disappointed.

I’m not sure what you’re trying to say. That 16 of 18 teams outside the top 6 won’t be in it at the end of the season?

That if you’re in the top 6 a third of the way through the season the chances are you’ll be there at the end?

Employing Paul Cook made sure we didn’t make the play-offs?
