How is squad looking currently? 15:27 - Nov 10 with 3984 views | itfcjoe | Things seem to have settled down now, where would people say we are..... I'd say something like this: GK - Walton seems solid but Hladky seems a bag of nerves behind him. I'd almost say Holy might be better option as number 2. RB - On paper it looks sorted, but KVY seems so fragile at the moment - not good he went off holding shoulder last night. LB - Biq question marks for me here. Coulson can't stay fit and Penney doesn't look quite with it. I'd be tempted to (if we can) send Coulson back in Jan and be looking for someone more durable CB - Edmundson looks top notch. ALongside him we need improvement in mid term at very least. Toto will do a job, Burgess looks an odd man out now Edmundson settling on left and Woolf looks a bit out in the cold. Need one more for there for me CM - Is El Miz trusted to be an understudy for Morsy? With Nolan nowhere, and Harper not really suited to role we feel one destroyer short in there. AM/Wingers - Feel very set there, and will just about balancing opportunities dependign on form and fitness Striker - Basically set there, Pigott a bit rusty but to be expected - obviously what we do depends on Bonne. I'd say, in an ideal world, in January it shuffles a bit like this: New LB New CB New CM Potential for a versatile right sided player too Surplus to requirements Kenlock Coulson Woolf/Toto (or even Burgess if we could claw back what we paid!) Nolan Norwood Jackson Barry

How is squad looking currently? on 08:37 - Nov 11 with 634 views | franz_tyson | Agree with that. A tough defensive midfielder needed. Fraser looked good as a play-maker there, but too lightweight. El Miz and Harper? Not sure if they are suited there, but El Miz has come on but doesn’t have the experience or bite. Carroll always missing so can’t be relied upon and he’s too lightweight also. I kind of think a new LB is more important than a CB. we have 3 CB’s who can fight out the place next to Edmundson. If we bring in a CB, we’d need to offload one and maybe Woolf can get a loan deal. Kind of think hes’s fourth choice CB. Penney can’t be relied upon to hold down the LB position on a regular basis and Coulsen seems destined never to be fit. If KVY s fitness was ok, we could try him there, but hes again injured. Think a new LB needed, unless. Coulsen comes back and stays fit.
How is squad looking currently? on 09:52 - Nov 11 with 572 views | Bluroo | To the OP... how can Toto possibly be "surplus to requirements??? Absurd. Let me provide a case for the defence: :- He's currently IN the starting line up :- He was immense against Wycombe, by far our toughest opponent and best performance this season :- He gives us some no nonsense presence and physicality vital to grinding out results in this div :- We've only lost ONE game with him in the side this season (should be NONE as we missed a bunch of sitters at Plymouth) :- Last season he had a better points per appearance than anyone else in the squad I fully appreciate he is not easy on the eye. He is no Van Dijk under pressure or Ferdinand with the ball at his feat. But we are in Div 1 not the Champions League and so it is simply not reasonable to expect that a £500k player is not going to look like they have a mistake in them, or indeed in them. They all do at this level. What he is, is committed and agriculturally no nonsense. I certainly cringe every time he looks up to ping the ball 60 yards as it could go anywhere, but that is offset by the confidence that he will win his aerial battles and boot the ball over the roof of the stand in the 94th minute if he needs to. Statistically his "errors" are not costing us anything as he is accruing more points per game than pretty much any other player. I think the 4 senior CB's we have are more than sufficient for getting out of this league. The defence rests.

I think we have just about what we need there. Burgess hasn’t lived up to my expectations yet but am hopeful he will come back stronger in due course. He will benefit from having Walton behind him. I just don’t think Hladky’s shakiness has helped him. The FB areas are the possible problem areas for me. PC’s system puts great importance on these positions. None of our current squad have quite nailed it down imo (despite each showing some quality at various times). This squad will continue to evolve so if we can strengthen again in January then great.

In January it's going to be mighty difficult to bring in two quality FB's who will a) be up to speed with first team football, even at this level, and b) be a lot better than we already have....arguably the most sought after players will be quality full back/wing backs with the way the game is played now, let's also be honest, they're all prone to mistakes anyway...

Absolutely. The key for me is that the stats do NOT back up the lazy opinion some have of him as captain calamity. Make of that what you will...
