... Rotherham!

Ipswich Town:
17/18 Season - 12th in championship, 15 points off the play-offs, -3 GD, playing some of the worst brand of football in living memory, boos and poison on the stands, manager sacked
18/19 - One of, if not, one of the worst managerial appointments in Town history, player dissent, new players completely out of their depth, relegation to Division 1
19/20 - Promising summer prep and early season form, then manager completely disconnects, and seems to be suffering from some deep issues, team falls apart and has no attacking potency
20/21 - Squad is now really unbalanced, inferior, and includes players who no longer want or should be at the club, repeat of 19/21.. stagnation, Cook fails to connect with dressing room, we finish 9th, 5 points off play-offs, 0 GD.
21/22 - 18 new players, complete rebuild of club on and off the pitch, loads of promise and some great displays, entertainment increasing, but our consistency is our inconsistency, and now form unravelling fast and we were completely abject against an excellent, settled, dynamic and strong Rotherham last night

Remind me again why we should expect to beat Rotherham?

You whinged your way through McCarthy's time here despite the year on year improvement from 2012-15 and, yet, you are relaxed about being mid-table in League One for a third successive season.

It's really odd.

It’s the embarrassment of getting it so wrong isn’t it? These hypocrites are far worse than Fishers ever was.

What is odd is you conflating my view of why Ipswich as they stand in recent history DO NOT have a divine right to beat Rotherham, with my opinion of this season

If you want to see my views on last night, our position and season prospects, that is in this post:

You’re also falling into a lazy view that I am a mick hater and think he was an awful manager, which is untrue, again i report about what I see on the pitch… below are some snippets from previous match reports in the period you refer to!! Indeed my Millwall away report in his hapless last season I am singing the team and his praises.

It’s just lazy. What I am not is some deranged loon who spends his time reminiscing about Mick and forgetting that the last season in particular was absolutely woeful, that 80% of fans wanted him to go, and the poison in the North Stand was palpable. I’m also not stupid enough to conflate hurst appointment with micks departure. Or to deny that micks style and method ate from a different era, and that he should have only been an interim manager - perhaps go and ask a Cardiff fan? Or are they just being odd as well?!

“ Mick has done a cracking job at making our defence strong, and with the massively in-form Murphy and the wily McGoldrick, we have a strong attack this term. It is the midfield that remains the quandary. What is our best selection? Should we continue with the 4-3-3 that brought so much better passing football and the emergence of Bru and Bishop.”

“ Well well well, nights like these make supporting Ipswich Town so magic. Yes we were technically inferior for large passages of the game, yes we were totally reliant on a young loan player for much that was entertaining and effective, and yes we carried 3 players contributing far less than their colleagues or than the 3 that replaced them. But this was a great Town performance full of fight and energy and commitment.
I went with a group of season ticket holders who are all planning to cancel their season tickets next season, "because we just don't enjoy it anymore" - as they went completely mental at the winning goal, perhaps they'll reconsider. Perhaps even Town will be in the Premiership to make them change their minds. A BBC Radio Suffolk caller bemoaned the size of the crowd given Town's position in the league. Well go figure, games like tonight have been few and far between this term, the prices are high, and ticket promotions are obscure - is it any surprise. But tonight we had ENTERTAINMENT, and the Suffolk jungle drums might start to inform the 'stay aways' that excitement has returned to the temple”
“ Great result and superb to get 3 points against a relegated Premiership side. In the end that's what matters. As with last year the away team dominated possession and were far superior in passing and movement, but Town's work rate, defence and sharpness up front were very strong today - ultimately it was a deserved victory”

Have you really just gone back through your old posts to find yourself saying positive things about Mick? Blimey.

I have my reports saved! I put them in programmes to boot... well I used to... I suppose a little weird.. can't be arsed anymore

Its strange Herbie.. I am literally waxing lyrical about Mick in say 1 in 4 games... well apart from the latter stages of his last season
