Negativity around Harris... 09:00 - Dec 14 with 3110 viewsTresBonne

Jesus Christ - the man hasn't even been appointed yet and our fans are writing him off.

Give the man a chance! What's the point in setting people up for failure?

Aside from Burley, whose mismanagement destroyed the club with the incapable help of Sheepshanks, the only managers who have enjoyed a modicum of success at Portman Road in the last four decades are Joe Royle and John Lyall.

Both of those appointments were greeted with disdain by intolerant fans with unrealistic expectations

Oh the irony of this statement

"greeted with disdain by intolerant fans"

Coined by the most intolerant fan going.

How's the toaster? Have you reconciled?

While not wanting to re-start the McCarthy debate, he was also a good manager for Town at the time, despite the lack of a stylistic fit.

The thing with Harris is, he'll instill some form of scrappiness in the team to fight for results, and have an edge to kick the opponents instead of letting them waltz past us, like Cook, Lambert and even Hurst allowed teams to do,

I'm hoping with the Milwall mentality, comes turning Morsy into a scrapper, and allowing Evans/Harper/Fraser to be the creative force who picks the ball up from him winning it back and starting attacks a la Kante/Drinkwater for Leicester,

Lets just hope he can be the man to take us from 11th, to either top end play offs, or some miracle, top 2 automatic promotion spots

Not really - granted he was up against it but he took Town nowhere in his tenure - and left with them much worse off.

Even Bobby Ferguson took Town to a play-off

I think the club is setting Harris up for a failure, rather than the fans. He's coming in as an unpopular appointment amidst growing numbers of anger and resentment. You have those who have just had enough of failure of the last 20 years, you have the older fanbase who liked Cook and wanted him to be given time, and then you have those who think we should be appointing a manager with more name value, rightly or wrongly. Ashton is already being singled out as a problem at the club, almost Evans 2.0 by some of the hardcore supporters. On the flip side, if Harris is up for the task knowing all of this, knowing the support is angry and fed up with many close to just walking away, knowing that this squad is not performing, and knowing the pressure and timescale he is under to deliver then maybe he is the man for the job because I don't think anyone sane would take it right now, as it's turning nasty.

I agree an element of our fan base appear to “attack” our managers . Ive already alluded to this with my comment , “ how long b4 done on here start their attacks on this forum ?” Which thff eh n usually / eventually translates to the terraces doesn’t it ! But the Club makes the call on who to give the job to , not us fans .

For the record , if it is NH he WILL have my 100% support. I don’t boo our managers . But I do despair at what’s going on still, at this Club. We can’t keep changing managers . At some point we MUST stick and give the man some bloody TIME. I feel sorry for Cook , and s lucky Club is going to pick him up in the next few weeks . Good luck to them .

I almost always like your posts, but have you been using a hammer whilst drunk lately, by any chance?
