A four part documentary starts 9pm Sunday night on ITV about Anne Williams' fight to uncover the truth about how her son was killed at Hillsborough.
It is about how the establishment covered up the truth, the police, the coroner, their lawyers etc. A near 30 year refusal to accept their culpability aided and abetted by politicians, press and judges aplenty.
Ade Tempany did an excellent piece in the Observer last week on the programme.

Anne, Margaret Aspinall, Trevor Hicks, you, Ade and all the survivors, their families and also those who helped uncover the truth (Phil Scraton, Andy Burnham, Steve Rotheram etc) have my utmost respect for the determination to continue to uncover the truth, despite being up against a clearly corrupt system, besmirched by lies, untruths and cover-ups, from the very beginning.

Anyhow - I am nowt to do with the drama.
Spoke to Ade about it and he said it's an excellent drama and that Maxine Peake does an amazing job of acting.

I'll definitely be watching this.
I was privileged to meet Anne several years ago.
A truly amazing human being.
I was never really sure how I felt about the tragedy. Sad of course, but maybe influenced by the some of the negative press.
Meeting Anne changed my views forever.
It's beyond sad she never got to see justice for her beloved son.
I have a couple of Liverpool hating in laws who I'll be recommending this to. |  |
