Not being the brightest, these numpties state they are Common Law, which as ][ 'any fule knows is
case law or precedent is law that has been developed by judges, courts and similar tribunals
ie a ruling by a court where, say, a sign says do not walk on the grass - so can you hop across it ? Much of what is governed by law is open to interpretation, so there needs to be a clarification (ruling), which then guides future cases.
Which seems to be what these numpties are objecting to.
