Gambling advice. 13:30 - Jan 22 with 1433 views | Wakh | Hi Folks. Being a non gambler i am looking for a little advice. How easy would it be to clock up a significant debt - say £100k. How would an online betting company deal with a debt gradually increasing to that figure. Sounds a bit vague, I know but fact checking a book i have been asked to read. Cheers
Gambling advice. on 13:43 - Jan 22 with 1376 views | Funge | Afternoon - the short answer is relatively easily. Most of the major bookies have the ability to impose a maximum deposit limit upon an individual in any one day, and, indeed, the major UK banks will typically communicate with an individual if they see a number of sizeable deposits leaving an account in a short space of time. However, if the account holder wants to spend their own money, there's no real way of stopping them. Indeed, as you go down the list of domiciled casinos ( e.g UK, to Malta, to Curacao), the deposit limits get higher, and the due diligence lower. Good luck making a successful withdrawal from a Curacao casino, by the way.

When a gambler reaches a height of a begging whale, he will be treated like totality with promos and free money or even tickets etc Basically they want all of his action and want him in a big deep while and chase his debt. Sad really it’s allowed

You can't use a credit card to deposit anymore. To answer the OP though very easy. The bookies will actively seek to extract the maximum cash from someone if they think they might have a problem. They will get various VIP incentives to gamble more. The banks are also partly to blame in my opinion. A mate of mine recently got approved for a £20k loan he couldn't afford. I had already talked him out of getting a £13k loan previously by sending a load of stats on how it would cripple him. Then he went and got a bigger one. He already had one loan and was unemployed at the time. Access to credit and ease of access to gambling sites is a disaster waiting to happen. £100k could be lost in a matter of months quite easily. Your right credit cards have been recently banned. Only DEBIT cards.

100k can be lost in no time at all. There's a Youtuber called the Bandit who was playing a game called Reel King on £100 spins and then gambling the wins for a bigger wins trying to reach the top. Think he was over 100k down in a couple of hours. That you can even do £100 spins is ludicrous.

Absolutely. If you have that money already to lose then like you say, you can lose it at an astonishing rate. Even with a £500 daily deposit limit there must be 200+ bookies and casinos online easily. If you are determined to keep going you can find a way.

There are a few gamblers on Youtube using crypto, who are going a lot harder than that - like, £1k spins and £50k/ £75k/ £100k bonus buys. It's kind of all Monopoly money, I suppose, until it's not. I self-excluded in 2019; in retrospect a very good decision when the first (proper) lockdown hit.
