Lee Johnson sacked on 22:35 - Jan 30 by Keaneish | After 6 games? Why not at half-time against Morecambe? |
You could ague why not at the end of last season? Given Cook has expressed unhappiness at they way the club was structuring and the reality was that he had become a poor fit. You could also argue that regardless, Cook made a real mess of the summer and this season despite having the best opportunity of anyone in that division and was lucky to survive as long as he did. The situation with Johnson is quite odd in the timing, not the decision. Sunderland don’t belong in this rubbish league and they’ve turned in poor performances for some weeks now. If they were going to replace him, they should have done it in December to give the new manager a transfer window. I presume they’re banking on a new manager bounce and given they’re league position that might work. Who they go for will be interesting. I can’t see Cook being given the job, but nothing would surprise me. [Post edited 31 Jan 2022 8:45]
