Partygate update on 17:59 - Feb 9 by lowhouseblue | oh come on, hosting an online staff quiz is work. he certainly isn't wearing tinsel and a christmas hat for fun. forced jollity doesn't make it a social event. |
"forced jollity doesn't make it a social event" .... be that as it may but was it against the regulations?

not if for those pictured it wasn't a social event. an online quiz seems entirely consistent with the regs and guidance. for that to happen some poor sod had to be in the office, pretend to be enjoying himself, put on some tinsel, and ask the damn fool questions. the regs were undoubtedly broken in number 10, but this one seems to be an example of them trying to do the right thing.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

Whether it was enjoyable for those present or not is not the question though is it? It seems to me to be a social event, enforced yu say and perhaps, therefore, there is an argument to be had by the employees who attended that their attendance was very much expected. The employees, not the employer. If this is "them" trying to do the right thing then they failed again. It doesn't take three people, in the same room, with alcohol and food freely available, to "ask the damn fool questions".
