Said at the time all those dropped points at the start of the season.... 08:37 - Feb 23 with 757 viewsITFC_Forever

....might come back to haunt us.

Another 6 - 8 points on our tally now and everything would be that bit rosier:
Morecambe (h)
Burton (a)
Cheltenham (a)
McDons (h)
Wimbledon (h)

Cambridge (a) was a real blow too.

Yep, and there are other examples as well, Oxford at home being another.

Every unsucessful team has a hard-luck story where they can point at a number of games they didn't get the results they thought they should. Look at our relegation season in 2002 for example.

It's always possible you'll lose tricky away games like Cheltenham was, and maybe we didn't know how good MK were going to be when they came to PR, so I don't think you can grumble too much about those.

But Cambridge (2-0 up), Wimbledon (2-0 up), and Morecambe (horrid mistake by LW for their second) are the ones in that list that really rankle.

Cheltenham we were 1-0 up and bossing it, Bonne missed a sitter and we go on to lose - that's points dropped.

MK we were in complete control until Evans gave away possession cheaply 30 yards from our goal and they score. That's another 2 points dropped.

Cook was incapable of setting a team up to protect a lead, even when we managed it in tight games like Lincoln it was by the skin of our teeth.

We had the odd great victory, but in the real cut and thrust of tight games we never came out on top

Although if we'd had another 6-8 points, maybe Cook might have kept his job.

I am still angry about Cambridge months later. Of all the fk-ups we had under Cook that one irritates the most.
