Is it worth starting to watch Peaky Blinders at this late stage? 19:54 - Feb 27 with 638 viewsRyorry

Wached the first 10 mins of ep 1, series 1, found it too dark (literally, ie the dim lighting) & metaphorically.

Has it changed at all? Improved? Would I understand anything if I started watching now? 🤔

It’s not that late. Not even 8pm yet, so plenty of time for a few episodes before bed .

Surprisingly, I’ll be useless here as I’ve never watched it. I know what you mean though as we did have a look at the first episode and for whatever reason it looked too gritty and heavy. It might have just been timing, as we watch very little tv and when we do normally go for something mindless. From what I’ve heard, if you can invest time in it, it’s well worth it.

Absolutely no point picking it up from series 5 (edit - 6 even).

Every point going back and watching it all from series 1.

I would go back to the beginning, first 3 series were superb in my opinion, after that it was highly watchable but maybe on occasions teetered on being a caricature of itself. Like any great series, wish I could watch it for the first time again.

If the first episode didn’t grip you, then it probably ain’t for you.

Nah, you can pretty much glean the plot from all the inspirational Tommy Shelby memes on facebook, tho...

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

I tried watching the first episode. Didn't understand what it was about at all. Furthermore, I didn't see anyone taking furtive glances round the window-coverings so had no idea why it had that title (peeky blinders = curtain-twitchers, innit?)
