If Le Pen wins in France 10:11 - Apr 9 with 5703 viewsreusersfreekicks

It will be catastrophic for Europe, for Ukraine and, of course, for France.
A Putin disciple in charge of a major western democracy. Almost too awful to contemplate

You said that Russian Oligarchs were the main donors to the Conservative Party. Now you are saying that collectively they would be third on the list of highest donors.

Accounts show that in the election year they raised £19 million. The figure of £1.9 million means that collectively they donated 10% of money raised by the Tories. Although your figure is collectively over a a two year period since Johnson became PM and not just in a single year. So it’s even less.

Look these oligarchs didn’t donate money for their own good, and the Tory party should not be beholden to foreign nationals of any country, let alone a country that is currently engaged in a bloody invasion of a sovereign nation. Every death and war crime shames the party for accepting what is effectively blood money. Every penny should be returned.

However, this sort of hyperbole doesn’t do your argument any good at all. Oligarchs are not the main donors to the Tory party. Do you accept that what you posted was factually incorrect?

"the main" was a poorly chosen and factually incorrect phrase, yes.

A major donor would have been a more accurate description. Thank you for giving a full and complete break down in an attempt to downplay their impact.

The Russian Oligarchs who give significant support around 5-10% of Tory funding then if you prefer.

One poster posts fake information and that is just using a poorly chosen phrase. Another poster takes the time and trouble to post the facts and that is an attempt to downplay their impact.

Look sometimes facts can be inconvenient to your argument. Just accept when you are wrong.

You have history of posting fake news then struggling to accept liability. It wasn’t so long ago you posted fake information regarding the JCVI’s report on whether the UK should vaccinate under 14’s? When it was pointed out that the JCVI had reported the exact opposite of what you posted, you clumsily edited your op several times to “better reflect their position” rather than simply put your hands up and admit you were wrong.

Next time just put your hands up and say that what you posted was a complete fabrication and move on. You’ll feel better for it.

Whereas in the real world we have -

"All major candidates, except for the far-right TV pundit Éric Zemmour, immediately called for French people to vote tactically to keep out Le Pen in the second round."

"Macron acknowledged that some — including the third-place Jean-Luc Mélenchon — had called on their voters to vote for him to block the far right"

"Mélenchon immediately gave a speech in Paris shouting three times: “Do not give a single vote to Marine Le Pen!” to huge cheers."

"“We know for whom we will never vote ...you should not support Le Pen,” he said in a speech. The far-left candidate added: “There must not be one single vote for Le Pen in second round.”

You do have to wonder sometimes where these righties get their views from.

“ although they won’t vote Le Pen in the second round they won’t support Macron to keep her out”.

Now you have quoted Mélenchon telling his supporters not to vote Le Pen in the second round, now link the quote where he tells his supporters to vote Macron to keep her out.

You really do have to wonder sometimes where these lefties learned to read.

Not too sure about any of what you put there. I think my statements on vaccinations were accurate even if you misinterpreted them and then I edited for clarity.

An interesting piece of advice you give in response to me saying exactly that, yes my words were poorly chosen and therefore wrong. The sentiment that lay behind them was still applicable once they were corrected. 5-10% of the total donations is a significant sum.

Perhaps, in the light of your own advice here, you would like to take a long look at your own choice of doubling down or admitting your error on the other thread that is currently getting you in a twist!

Actually, you posted that the JCVI had recommended that under 14's should be vaccinated but the Tory government was going against their advice, when in fact it was the complete opposite.

But ho hum.
