Extinction Rebellion protest in parliament 12:19 - Sep 2 with 2487 views | tractordownsouth | Not sure how they managed to bypass security but I think this is a much better way of protesting than sitting in the road and blocking traffic. It targets the people who actually have the power to change things rather than causing problems for the public and turning people who are sympathetic to the environmental cause against it because of their methods. Extinction Rebellion protest in parliament on 18:09 - Sep 2 by BlueForYou | Well, how about my suggestion that they get properly organised & fight for seats in Parliament? If they are serious & feel their cause is that worthy, then do something positive & change things positively. At the moment they are a rag tag collection of quite embarrassing & childish individuals. The planet is changing, life changes & evolves, sometimes not for the better. One thing I particularly agree on, is plastics & the dumping of them. They would get far more support if they stopped glueing themselves to roads, etc. |
What about if they want to do something now and not wait years for (almost negligible) opportunity to stand as a candidate? It's just not practical. More 'things change' stuff as well - disappointing to see, but not surprising as the creep of the fossil fuel lobby is extensive in politics and media, and the circus that surrounds all that on social media. You can think of greenhouse gasses as plastic you can't see, but with far worse consequences, if that helps.

Extinction Rebellion protest in parliament on 13:46 - Sep 2 by tractordownsouth | I opposed the road blockages for the same reason but that doesn't apply here - it's aimed at people with the power to change things and doesn't have negative effects on everyday folk who haven't done anything wrong. |
I do wish those everyday folk would stop dropping litter, will they never learn!

No it isn't. Never has been. Place for Town fans (and those who wish they were Town fans) to get together for a chat. There is of course the option for football only which some people still don't seem to understand, which also might explain the odd daft post on matters people are discussing.

"At the moment they are a rag tag collection of quite embarrassing & childish individuals. The planet is changing, life changes & evolves, sometimes not for the better." This goes some way to proving how difficult it is to get through to some people. [Post edited 2 Sep 2022 19:28]

That's one very important approach but not necessarily these particular individuals forté. Peaceful protest and drawing attention to the issue is another valuable approach, and that's what these people are doing. If you think it is 'their' cause, and not everybody's then you've probably got a very rude awakening coming, depending on how old you are now. If you think that their actions are embarrassing and childish, I think I can safely assure you that they are not embarrassed by their actions. You are probably projecting how you would feel if you were carrying out these actions. These people are neither insecure enough nor immature enough to be embarrassed by their actions. The human race is in control of the changes that are happening to the planet now. We are all involved and we have a group responsibility; to think of these changes as evolution is, frankly, moronic. You haven't said that you are not a climate change denier, which is perhaps an oversight. If you are still one, please wake up.

Been an Ipswich fan since 1968. That's a long time ago. I dont start many threads. Have much more to do. We have the strongest squad for 20 years. Really hoping we can achieve a top two finish. That's why we're all here right?
