Artemis missions 16:02 - Sep 3 with 577 viewsPerublue

Looks like a no go again today.

Poll: Is it an issue for you that the new England manager is foreign ?

It'll be an impressive sight but as a piece of technology it's a real step backwards and NASA know that.

I'll have a few missions and will be used for the lunar gateway but you can be assured they are hoping that SpaceX Starship works. A billion plus USD difference every launch is a lot of money.

Absolutely .... It does have the feel of a cobbled together cut and shut car.

But Starship is years, maybe a decade away from any crewed launches, super heavy booster hasnt even static fired all its engines yet, let alone launched, done a reentry burn successfully and be caught by the chopsticks. Starship has only successfully landed once from 10km.

Orion via Artemis is the only way of getting human spaceflight back to the moon and safely back again Falcon 9 only first landed a stage 1 booster 8 years ago, so reuse is great but still very early in space development.

whilst I think its a crying shame theyll ditch 4 RS25 engines per flight, there's no other way to launch a crew rated capsule on a trans lunar injection orbit other than via Artemis at the moment.
