Town T.V. , i-Follow and the 3 p.m. blackout 22:32 - Sep 6 with 3750 views | monty_radio | At the forum this week Ashton spoke of Town T.V. replacing i-Follow when the contract expires. I also read that E.F.L. clubs were to have discussed the 3 p.m. football blackout that has stood since the 1960s. So might this mean that Town T.V. will feature all 3 p.m. fixtures? Town T.V. , i-Follow and the 3 p.m. blackout on 07:40 - Sep 7 by StokieBlue | I think the evidence suggests that is not the case. It's very easy to stream the town matches now and we still fill most of our away quotas so nothing would change. SB |
Yeah, that's my thinking. The streams are easy to access from anywhere already, so if there were impacts we'd see it now rather than the sellouts we're getting. Maybe home games on a wet and windy February midweek game might be affected. But if I'm a season ticket holder I'm going whatever the weather. Performances are more likely to have an impact than streams, as we know attendances drop off when we're doing badly or people are bored.

Town T.V. , i-Follow and the 3 p.m. blackout on 07:19 - Sep 7 by Jon_456 | I’d imagine it would take quite a hit on away followings. There’s no way I’m travelling to Accrington, Fleetwood or Morecambe if it’s available to stream. Wouldn’t be surprised if we lost around 500 tickets from home games either. Hopefully it stays how it is. |
Purely hypothetical, but if we lost 500 walkup tickets (I'd be surprised if it was that many), yet people are paying £10 for a stream, that's only a loss of say £15 per ticket. So you'd only need 750 stream subscriptions to make up for it. We've hit over 6,000 subscriptions for some past matches last year - so we're quids in. I don't know the answer, but it seems to me that having a good stream and making it more widely available can only be a good thing.
