I found that flying them was a terrible idea as they tended to break on impact.

I got away with it a few times but generally my efforts were in deficit.

On a tangent one of my neighbours has just been to France fishing. I don't know how involved you are/have been with fishing but he's showed some of his gear and it's basically cheating.

He's got a remote controlled boat that takes both bait (to bait up) and also the baited hook too. He doesn't even have to cast for goodness' sake.

The floor of the boat opens on command, it has little lights on it and everything.

The rods have alarms...

It's only a step down from going to the lake with a trawler. How is that fishing?

I mean, they do catch some pretty big feck-off fish, but so they should with all that stuff.

He sounds like an amateur. If you pick the lakes with dams, you only have to pull the plug out!

I haven’t been for ages, but RC boats were a thing (rarely) 20 years ago. Taking the hook out is seriously cheating imo. I’d love to own a little fishery in France. Sat on my arse here it seems like a dream, but it’s probably quite hard work in reality.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

The only fishing I've done as an adult was really an excuse to have a smoke by some water.

This boat he has however, now that looks fun. It's about 500/maybe 600 quid or something I think.

Sod the fishing, I want an empty lake and one of those.

You can still buy a lake in France for reasonable money if you're interested.

RC boats can be are nuts. I found my old model sailing boat from when I was a kid in the loft when we were clearing out my dad’s house. Really simple, set the sails and let go. I took it and the kids down to the local boating lake near my dad’s place where I once spent hours sailing it backwards and forward. It was all going well until some flash Harry turned up with a remote control yacht with electronically controlled rigging and all sorts. He didn’t even have to leg it round to the other side to collect it. Posh sod.

Don’t tempt me. The Mrs’ll kill me if I start looking for lakes. Besides, I’d never drag her out of wales!

We'll go halves on a lake.

You can fish and I'll be the annoying twerp with the boat.

Tell the wife it's an anniversary gift or something.

They like all that. Honest.

He’d a premonition he was going to be killed in a car, which is supposedly why he never learnt to drive. Similar to Ronnie Van Zant who knew he’d not make 30 and was killed when the plane he was in hit a tree (a different tree) a few months before his 30th. I wonder if there’s anything in that sh*t. I wonder if you can actually forecast/foresee your own death. I’ve recurring dreams of being in a plane crash, but as we’ve stopped flying because we’re good little eco-warriors, it’s probably something I don’t need to worry about!

A friend of mine has been saying for 20 odd years that he has a feeling that he's going to die young - he's just turned 55. I wonder at what point he might change his mind?

For years I've had a recurring dream that I witness a large plane crash in a residential area. Hopefully it's not Swansea.

Nothing in it at all. Plenty of people have a fear of dying in a car or plane crash and that actually does happen to a certain number of people, so the 2 sets overlap. No-one has been shown to have psychic powers & IMO these people who tour theatres advertising themselves as "psychics" or mediums should be prosecuted as fraudsters.
