On paper, Colchester don't have an awful squad but our ex players are getting on - Skuse (36), Chambers (36), Judge (33), Sears (32), Smith (32), Nouble (30) and Eastman (30). Then you have the ever injured Huws at 28.

Colchester have an enormous squad, with the old brigade you mention, (and you can add Akinde) a sizeable bunch of young home-grown players , (some of whom have already played a lot of games), and then a whole raft of loanees who came in a couple of weeks ago. Not short of numbers, - just a case of whether someone can get a tune out of any eleven of them. A manager who is not quite so scared of losing as the last two have been would be nice. I suspect (and hope) it won't be the usual six weeks of interviews followed by an 'internal promotion'. I think that if a name of some sort is not appointed, there's a real risk gates will go under 2000 for midweek games.
