Embarrassing watching our fans keep the ball 19:12 - Oct 1 with 3532 views | carlisleaway | Would not have been so happy if Portsmouth had scored in the 8th minute of extra time
Embarrassing watching our fans keep the ball on 21:13 - Oct 1 with 758 views | GlasgowBlue | I thought it was fantastic. 3-2 up with minutes remaining in normal time, and they completely broke up any rhythm that Pompy were trying to put together.

Embarrassing watching our fans keep the ball on 21:15 - Oct 1 with 748 views | BigCommon | It's not done to waste time. As the ref will add on the extra minute or two It's done for a laugh. But the added pluses are, that it frustrates the oppo'. Stops their rhythm and gives our lads a moment to get set into a decent defensive shape. Extra bonus is it makes their whingey whiney fans a bit saltier, for their long journey home. Especially after all the "cheque book fc " nonsense they chuck at us.

Embarrassing watching our fans keep the ball on 22:00 - Oct 1 with 686 views | DJR | I thought it was crass for a number of reasons. First, just because the opposition waste time, it doesn't mean our fans have to. Second, it merely added to the added time. Third, a couple of our fans goaded or grappled with Portsmouth players, and one in particular should have been ejected. All in all, not the Ipswich way as far as I am concerned. Embarrassing watching our fans keep the ball on 22:04 - Oct 1 with 657 views | TheBoyBlue | Their whole gameplan was to waste time from the off. Every throw in. Every goal kick. Every free kick from them falling to the ground to break up play. I wasn't involved (the ball never got as far as Row R on the third tier of the Magnus!), but it was entirely worth it to see the tables turned and the frustration it caused them. What goes around, comes around.

His comments are reasonably tame. He seems to both discourage it and downplay it. He doesn't seem to see it as a big issue but perhaps one that could be legislated against. However, multi-ball systems are also abused by fans hanging on to the ball until play restarts and then throwing it on the pitch to force it to stop again. Maybe legislation could deal with that somehow too? His comments: “I think it certainly wasn’t any addition to us, it wasn’t something that we were looking to happen. “I understand it from the fans’ point of view, I’ve seen so many teams come here and try and waste time and take in the game, and we saw it today from the first minute. “So I understand the irony possibly of them trying to keep hold of the ball at the end, but the referee adds it on, so it wasn’t an addition to us and I was happy to see the ball come back in play. “I think that the league should look at more of a multi-ball system, I know the Premier League has looked at it and now I think this league should look at a multi-ball system. I think ball in play time and time-wasting is an important issue in the league, it’s not something that we look to do a lot as a football club, but I can understand the fans enjoying that moment today.”

Embarrassing watching our fans keep the ball on 07:17 - Oct 2 with 533 views | tractorboy1978 | It's not something I want to see every week but it was amusing yesterday. That was a couple of years worth of frustrations with teams coming here and wasting time coming out. It really disrupted their flow and we were able to see the game out comfortably in the end.

It was those that directly confronted the Portsmouth players that I was talking about. Do we really want a repetition of the things that happened at the end of last season when players came under attack?

I was happy to see the ball come back in play is the main message for me and of course he isn't going to be critical of his own fans . More or less after every home game fans on this forum take the moral high ground regards Gamesmanship and time wasting in particular but then seem to think its wonderfull when we resort to it !
