having stopped about 18 months ago. All the wins from this season are up there and the commentary from yesterday gives the lie to the feeling that Brenner Woolley can take or leave Town doing well.

"Excited" does not mean exactly the same as "loud". Is it so difficult to comprehend?
It appears that you have graduated from complete sarcasm to merely making a sarcastic , but largely irrelevant point. What about trying to state your opinion on the matter, as your next post?

I've done so countless times in the past whenever this rather peculiar criticism of a good commentator gets trotted out, but yes sure. There are many, many readily-available examples of Brenner Woolley conveying outright jubilance when we score. When the opposition score, the volume of his voice often matches the volume of his voice when we score, but usually with a very audible tone of disappointment. If that difference in tone can't be readily perceived, we only have to listen to the words he's saying. If we can't perceive differences in tone and we don't want to be troubled to listen to the words he's saying, I have to ask why we're listening to radio commentary in the first place. In the absence of an audio notification service that simply bellows "YAY" when Town score and remains silent at all other times to ensure no confusion, I think he's a good commentator - not with the extent of passion Bryan Knights conveyed for Town, but commentators have different styles (eg. Bryan Knights didn't convey the passion for town that Jonathan Pearce conveys for absolutely everything).

Thanks....I agree with most of that.
You wrote "usually with a very audible tone of disappointment", and my point is that it should be always and not usually. That is, I guess, partly where we differ.

Fact?!
I never took any notice of him being louder for the oppositions goals but if you can, listen back to the Plymouth match and you will get what people are on about.
Up and mainly down, following Town since 88

I assume that you are referring to this "A listener of a local radio station shouldn't have difficulty in discerning the differences between a home or away goal." as an isolated statement instead of in the context of what I had already written "I think the issue with Brenner in the past was not whether he could take or leave Ipswich doing well, but rather that he got equally excited at some, not all, of our opponents' goals." It is his excitement and enthusiasm for some opposition goals that I and many others have not liked. I am not sure I can make it any clearer.
If you insist on interpreting "a bit partisan" as "cheerleader" then you are deliberately missing the point there as well. Maybe it is not deliberate?
I too would prefer a commentator to convey what is actually happening. I am not having "a go" at anybody for doing their job. I am pointing out that he gets equally excited at opposition goals on occasions. I would prefer a commentator that doesn't do that. Is it so difficult to comprehend?
I'm not sure why you're saying you can't make it any clearer - you've been perfectly clear. I'm completely comprehending. You want a commentator who doesn't raise his voice/get as excited when the opposition score. Which to me suggests you need to grow some fecking balls.
Brenner raises his voice when ANYTHING exciting happens. And to me that's good for the listener. It makes the game exciting and conveys what's happening for people who can't see it. As much as I love Mick Mills I wouldn't want his monotone voice over everything.
I get that it's upsetting when the opposition score but you appear to be wanting to shoot the messenger. The fact that you're getting upset about the volume of the commentator rather than the ineptitude of the defending (for example) is baffling to me.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

It is more than just raising his voice. He gives mixed signals in the excitement in his voice. As you correctly state, it is opinions. I am glad that I don't have to listen to it anymore.
Think Forest Green was the game where there were technical problems with the commentary on iFollow? I think that Glenn Wheeler is improving and co-commentators, like Ian Westlake, are great.
He doesn't give mixed signals to anyone with half a brain and working ears.

I've listened to Brenner for years, and I've listened to this nonsense about him being too loud or 'enthusiastic' on oppositions goals for almost as long. It's just pathetic, frankly. People need to grow a pair.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I saw Christian Walton put his hands up in the air when he conceded the penalty on Saturday, and that really pissed me off because he made me think we'd scored.

Sadly, it seems beyond you to have a sensible discussion, so I'll leave it there.
