I’ve always thought as a bit of jeopardy, if a keeper goes down and needs the physio, make them go off for 10 seconds. Also any player who’s down injured, if they’re not too bad, make them go off for treatment, otherwise, make them stay off for the length of time they’re injured. Would soon stop time wasters.

I do also believe with all the tech, the gane time should stop whenever there is a break in play, then blow at 90

Making a keeper go off is totally impractical as all the palaver of getting a replacement goalkeeper on would take more time than the current nonsense. There's little that can practically be done to stop keepers feigning injury. Have you noticed that if they take a routine catch near the end of a game, they then usually drop unnecessarily to the floor, so as to waste a few more seconds?
I do wish referees would start enforcing the 6 second rule, though.

I appreciate it wouldn’t work with regard the keeper coming off for 10 seconds when the physio comes on, which is why I think the clock should stop. Everytime the ball goes out, the clock stops. Then a keeper can take 3 mins to take a kick, but it won’t affect the game time

To be fair if a keeper's on the ground for longer than 6 seconds, I still wouldn't eat one...

Problem is it's not always clear whether an injury is 'not too bad' so caution has to take precedent.

The thing with stopping the clock, other than making the game go on for ages, is that a large part of timewasting is to disrupt the other team's momentum and allow themselves to get set up, regain some composure for the next attack, so teams holding on for a point won't really care if the clock stops.

It is a bit of a tricky situation though as the whole game shouldn't be able to be disrupted so heavily by one player pretending he's got cramp or whatever, but as I said the best thing the officials can do is add on more time, which they've been instructed to do and why we've seen more 6+ mins added on this season rather than 3 or 4.

The only other thing to consider is that I don't think a lot of refs follow the added on time being a minimum amount very closely. Quite often there'll be, say, 6 mins added on then the timewasting continues throughout the added time then the ref blows up pretty much on 96 anyway. Obviously will always be a point when the ref feels enough time has been played to account for the stoppages but has to be some scope to address the balance of the teams essentially doing everything but trying to play the game dictating it.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Isn't it down to the referee's discretion these days?
