After the disgrace of the Euros I was in favour of a long ban on England playing international matches. 10 years minimum to give people time to think about it.

I haven’t changed my mind. No England football team, reduced football related violence. You could argue why should the innocent pay for the minority? But why should people who want to travel abroad from all countries be exposed to that?
At the very least, anyone convicted abroad for violence, football or otherwise should be slapped with a criminal record, a lifetime travel ban and no right of appeal. People then know up front the consequences should they choose to get lagered up and have a ruck.
Just a view, albeit a depressing, reactionary, extreme one. |
