What the fcuk was Walton doing on 18:19 - Dec 10 by Nthsuffolkblue | Cricketers wear sunglasses with these as seeing the ball against the sky is very important. Is there any rule about players wearing them? Would heading the ball would be a problem (albeit keepers are rarely called to do that). |
Interesting really, with so much at stake in football you'd have thought someone somewhere would have tried to come up with something - maybe it's deemed a "dangerous accessory", similar to rings or other jewellery. Can't recall a keeper heading a ball, but clashing of heads is certainly poss. Might have answered my own question there, but you'd have thunk someone could come up with a soft material for them, similar to soft contact lenses. Maybe there's a Dragons Den opening for someone to come up with instantly reactive contact lenses!

Well with the likes of Davids wearing special glasses, there was clearly a way of doing it safely. interesting that it's not been something taken up by keepers.

I only have a vague memory of that, even with your reminder - maybe it was only allowed for medical reasons? Nevertheless, they must have been deemed safe if he was OK'd to go on with them, so yes, interesting as to why not taken up by others.

Yes, they were special ones with reactive lenses that had to special approval. I know a lad with poor eyesight who has a special pair of prescription ones he wears to play youth football.

What the fcuk was Walton doing on 18:43 - Dec 10 with 418 views | Bucklebury_blue | Lee Evans on commentary said we like playing towards the SBR stand in the 2nd half but it was crazy for Morsy to choose ends with Walton facing the sun. Walton was obviously blinded for that high ball into the box. He's been brilliant for us and what really worries me are the number of people on here suffering from short-term memory loss
