Not been good enough for a little while now 17:11 - Jan 2 with 1563 views | NeedhamChris | Last couple of months haven't been anywhere near good enough for automatic promotion. Last season a poor start meant we had too much to do. This year it's an excellent start that is making it seem better than it is. Something needs to change otherwise it's playoffs at best for us.

I'm talking about our overall form, but yes Oxford was great but are we still clapping about that 2 games later?

Well, I guess we have to hold on to something.

It doesn't need a massive upturn, but yeah we're currently only heading downwards

Not been good enough for a little while now on 18:07 - Jan 2 with 1228 views | BigCommon | Tbf, we've had a hell of a lot of injuries through November and December Which means less rotation and a weary squad of available players. I think this has lead to a slight lack of sharpness in some players. And a slight lack in concentration in others, at times. This has been compounded with illness hitting the camp, just as we get a few numbers back on the pitch.. I have no doubt, that once we have a fuller and fitter squad. With perhaps a signing to give Ladapo some extra competition. We'll find our groove again. Some players have been outstanding lately. Chaplin, Morsy, Evans and Aluko, for instance. A few others have looked off it a bit. No league game for a fortnight. Chance to re-boot . Get our heads clear. Get a few more bodies in and around the squad. And go again. KM has taken us, from mid table, to challenging for the Title in the space of 1 year. I hope people stay off of his and the squads back. They need a lift right now. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

All teams have illness & injuries. We have a bigger pool of quality players than most others. We don’t score enough and let in too many for a team who has 70% possession overall. As well as the top 2, Derby, Barnsley & Bolton are upwardly mobile & could well be challenging for automatic promotion as well.

You’re allowed to moan about our form up to 2 months ago, but we’re not allowed to applaud our performance of the season 2 games ago? What an incredibly strange take.
Not been good enough for a little while now on 18:33 - Jan 2 with 1073 views | HARRY10 | I thinj everyone grasps that we need to go up as one of the two automatic promototed clubs. Two out of three, with us as favourites a bit back. Now looking like a battle between us and Weds for 2nd. Concern is Derby who are now hitting form.

I get what you are saying but sorry, every club gets injuries and illness. It’s absolutely no excuse. Secondly, the reality is we are weak defensively. Our opponents are lucky to get 30% possession yet most score at least once a game far too often and easily. They know they’ll be in the game to the final whistle. Why? Because all the possession in the world means zip if you can’t do something with it. We don’t often enough or early enough. We need a proper No 9. Yes, we’ve scored plenty of goals. But not in the key moments often enough and when we do (e.g. Charlton), our milky defence caves in under any sort of pressure. We are easily bullied. Just look at Portsmouth’s second goal. The reality is we are performing mid table standard - 5 points from 12 over the holiday season. No excuses. Mid table. It’s what we are. We have the ability to run away with this tinpot league. I’ve said this all season, but unless the current squad takes a good hard look at this, play offs is the best we can achieve. Plymouth need a draw against us and they’re gone. There is no way we will win three more games than them. Sheffield W? The same. That’s the hole we’ve dug. We are better than last year and progress has been made, but we should be able to put 10 man teams away or sides that Charlton beat so easily like Portsmouth at home. I’m fully behind KM. he needs to be backed and he needs patience from all from the owners down. He’s going to be a top manager. Hopefully with us. But we have to accept he’s learning and will make mistakes as we all do. Keep the faith.

We've only got a bigger pool of quality players, on paper, if they are all fit... We've had Leigh,Evans, Aluko, Burgess, TJJ, Harness, Camara, Ball, all out for reasonable periods this last 6 weeks. With some of those mentioned, pretty much out for the season. Which makes it difficult when 1 or two others pick up minor injuries or illness. Like JD recently and Wollfy last game and Davis today. So we've been down to the bare bones at times. Doubt any team in the division could take that amount of first teamers out and still get a reasonable points haul. You've only got to look at Pompey to see how most teams will drop like a stone with half a dozen injured. We don't score enough? Yet we are the leagues top scorers? Granted, we shouldn't be conceding as many. I had the current top 8, along with Oxford, MKD and Pompey as contenders for promotion this season. It was never going to be a 3 or 4 horse race.. We're in good shape and well placed for the second half of the season. The only thing that will spanner that. Is numpties pouring negativity and doubt over everything... You ae right, all teams have illness and injuries. But not all teams are sitting 3rd on 2ppg after 25 matches..... We are. [Post edited 2 Jan 2023 20:58]
