Firstly, when the dust settles on this afternoon at Portman Road, just think back to the atmosphere when Town came out, and the ten minutes after the goal when we were fully in the ascendancy.
It was ROCKING… remarkable atmosphere. Well done to all Town fans - WE DID TURN UP.
And Plymouth fans were also some of the best away support in seasons.
The result was very fair - equal stats across the board
Sadly - and YET AGAIN - many of our players got rabbit in the headlights on the big occasion. This is a bit of a Town trait I’m afraid. Our defence was really erratic with some woeful passing. And Walton continued his poor form, perhaps worsened.
Ladapo was literally the only Town player in the early stages truly fired up, alas his game went downhill later.
Having said all that Town carved out some really good attacking moments in the first half. And in the second chances such as Harness and Morsy went begging. They of course missed a massive sitter.
Donacien was poor again; David couldn’t fire, Evans was poor, Burns wasn’t beating the man. Etc etc
BUT, the Burns goal was sublime… and following that we were complete on top and ripping in to them, and Portman Road rocked.
When Plymouth regrouped and their subs settled they were back in it.. but weren’t hurting us. But again - think Wycombe - we let a runner attack to box. Several missed tackles and blocks.
But on the positive WHAT A GAME! and occasion. It wasn’t the polished football we saw on Boxing Day. But it had a manic intensity that was entertaining.
And wow that crowd. Can we keep the Fortuna blue flag please???
But stay positive we only have 4 points to catch Sheff Weds and Plymouth! And there’s 60 points on the table.
And critically we have 2 exciting attackers… and I thought Hirst looked a handful and classy.

A positive outlook amongst much negativity this evening.
