In response to a question on Rishi Sunak's handling of the Zahawi business, on Radio 4's 'Any Questions' on Friday night, the subject turned to general sleaziness within the Conservative Party. He said:
"Boris Johnson left a trail of slime across Downing Street and Rishi Sunak keeps slipping up in it."
*For those who don't know, Matthew Parris is not some woke lefty; he is a former Conservative MP who now writes regular columns in The Times and The Spectator. Whilst serving as an MP he was a close ally of Margaret Thatcher.
