Camara and TJJ 07:56 - Feb 22 with 4830 views | Nutkins_Return | Are both back in full training now. Sounds like Camara was doing very well and TJJ was expected back early. Think both will be available in a couple of weeks potentially (though clearly match fitness is Another thing). Just wondering if we might see them in an U21 game soon. Will be a big boost. Ball a few weeks behind but on grass now.

Camara and TJJ on 14:10 - Feb 22 by Garv | Just because you'e mentioned Harness/transfers...our summer business has turned out to be a very mixed bag, to put it kindly, for various reasons - some out of our control. Ball - mainly injured Harness - started well but if he doesn't score he doesn't affect games enough. Davis - clearly the best of the lot and he has been very good, albeit suspect defending the back post. Improved our set pieces dramatically. Keogh - fair to say his qualities go unnoticed because he's there as a senior main around the squad rather than to contribute on the pitch every week TJJ - started slowly and looked like he might find some form - was a bit of a wildcard at times. Injured since October. Camara - injured Ahadme - never has the word 'raw' been more suitable. Injuries again not been kind. Ladapo - mixed bag. Started slowly but improved. Seems to struggle coming off the bench compared to when starting. Not helped by rotation. Seems bang up for it one week and looks lethal, then lethargic and borderline lazy the next. Should go on to get a decent goals tally though. Leigh - has he done anything wrong? Criminally under-used. Injuries again playing a part. |
Yes, definitely a mixed bag although I'd be more positive on Davis and Ladapo. Full backs who are strong offensively but also impervious to having a big centre forward pull wide and beat them in the air basically don't exist. Davis is as good as it realistically gets for a League One club. I think we signed Ladapo early in the Summer as squad depth with the clear intention to sign our main man number 9 later on. That he subsequently had to be the main guy and is well on his way to being our most prolific striker since Waghorn is him going above and beyond expectations.

I do feel for Leigh. Always impressed me but rarely plays. Not on the bench much now, either.

Hasn't let us down, but from the little I've seen of him he is pretty limited in an attacking sense.

Camara and TJJ on 14:23 - Feb 22 by SheffordBlue | I think the idea that Ladapo off the bench doesn't work isn't entirely fair. 3 of his 11 (27%) league goals have come from the bench. As a unit we seem to have stopped trying to press teams high up the pitch earlier in games than we used to - injuries/physical ability hitting it's limits maybe. There have been a couple of games where he has had accusations of laziness for not pressing when the attacking midfielders weren't joining him in the press (possibly on instruction) making it a bit of a futile effort and leaving us open to the opposition getting men over if he did run off by himself. Now we're blessed with numbers again in these positions and as pitches hopefully stop being so heavy as the weather improves it will be interesting to see if we collectively start doing this throughout games again. If he then doesn't join in the criticism is fair and valid! |
Fair points. | |
