But what does he do from day to day? I’m aware a CEOs job is basically to make sure everyone else does theirs but ITFC is a small organisation relative to the huge staff, at executive level especially.

When Sheepshanks first advertised for a chief exec to free up his valuable time a friend of mine did a spoof application and was somewhat surprised to get an interview. Sheepshanks was Adam Ant that he was going to retain control of transfer negotiations, which as far as my friend could tell left nothing for the MD to do. I doubt anything has changed. As I recall the anonymous bloke from Watford who got the job left because there was nothing to do. |  |
