When I was a student in Bangor in the early 80s, I did sometimes hear the football results in Welsh, and I recall that they did translate the names of the towns/cities into Welsh where possible.

But (as I remember it) Queens Park Rangers and Port Vale for example was said in English, rather than translated.
(Maybe someone who is actually Welsh can confirm if this is/was true, as it may be just something I like to believe.i DO know that even though I knew the Welsh words for 'nil', 'one', 'two', 'three', I couldn't always follow the results.)
