This is peak ITFC - for me 08:20 - Apr 2 with 1196 viewsTOWNcalledMALICE

Been going since the early 90’s, the Burley years - Wembley, Moscow, Milan are my obvious highlights. YouTube keeps offering me highlights from games 5-9 years ago - as others have said, what we have seen for the majority of the past year+ is night and day from recent seasons where our season has been over by March.

So many if, buts and maybes gone and to go - so much achieved already, without actually achieving anything yet. Bring it on.

“and Chaplin makes it 5-0, know one dreamt of this last night….”

Even when we got relegated we were so abject that the season was basically over in December/January time. Great for us to be bang in the hunt for promotion at the business end of the season, and looking as good as we've looked under McKenna with recent performances. We've really hit our stride at the right time.

I think Shef.U were in this league for 5 seasons before they got out, there is a cycle to go through to start again and we were definitely starting again….

They are an outlier though. Sunderland took four seasons but many (most in fact) sides of comparable stature to us have got out of this division more quickly than we have. If it means that we have a good crack at the Championship next season then the few years of dross at this level will quickly be forgotten.

I hope we win the league, it’s a trophy you’d always look back on and remember what a ride we’ve had, and the beginning of what’s to come, because this club is going places.

It would be fascinating to know where this team would finish in the Championship. I'd be pretty confident of doing rather well. The last two months have shown that we're now too good for this league (the January signings having improved us substantially), and the Rotherham and Burnley results support the idea that we would be top half of the Championship. I think it'll take a handful of marquee signings to improve us for next season. If there are no signings at all it would be a shock, but I'd still be confident and salivating!

They’d do well.

Norwich are just outside the play offs and they’re rubbish. We’d spank them and if truth be told most of their fans know it too. There’s no reason why we wouldn’t push for top 6.

I've watched a bit of Championship footy here and there and based on that and our performances in the FA Cup games, I think this side would be in the mix for the top 6 this season. Hard to say yet how strong a league it'll be next season but it does feel like a league that's on decline, top end of League 1 is of comparable quality to half the Championship I'd say.

Agree with this — swathes of the Championship look and feel pretty downtrodden at the moment. Been a very hard couple of years at that level: a lot of clubs treading water, resources scarce, fans apathetic, pitches and stadiums fraying a bit. We'd be able to target the play-offs if we went up.
