Pitch invasion or not… 12:39 - Apr 24 with 5623 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Regardless of whether it’s Saturday or the end of the play offs, I’m not sure I can see it happening at PR!

Security will be huge across the lower north and that area would be the main instigators. Plus, the tiers and one way systems won’t make it very feasible! Then the lower Britannia is mainly families who won’t be sprinting on, and largely the same with the lower south stand too.

I might be wrong mind you.

There was one in 93/94, or maybe it was 95. Man Utd at home. Mancs took exception to us signing ynwa at them.

Town fans were all on the pitch singing "champions" to ManU fans, they in turn were singing "we hope you beat Blackburn Rovers"...

We are a bigger club than that, pitch invasions are for minnows, underdogs celebrating amazing achievements against the odds. Hopefully we do what is expected, but with our history and once proud standing I would personally find it a little embarrassing considering our riches at this level.

Look at our history, yes its a huge relief to be out of this league but lets save proper wild celebrations until we reach our rightful place back in the Premier League.

Don’t worry about celebrating this promotion lads.

Not like we’ve just gone 23 years without one or anything.

Not like it could be that long again.

I kind of get your point…. But is running on the pitch really the only way a club can celebrate promotion?

Oxford after the Atkins winner, what a game that was. Butcher getting his head stitched. Remember carrying Dozzell off the pitch, we thought we were going to do it and stay up. How wrong we were, despite Mariner promising Arsenal would win at Oxford :(

I went on after the Atkins goal and at the full time whistle. I was 15 and in the west stand lower terrace where many people of that age got a little excitable. TWTD.

Upper North Stand at the ready...

Seriously though, I don't think the club would like it, they don't like bad publicity. Perhaps put those big flame thrower things in to set off at full time instead lol! Keep the fans at bay!

One of my favourite Portman Road memories was the pitch invasion following the Brighton game in 1992. The announcer was just encouraging people to "be careful" when entering the pitch, even before the final whistle. We live in a different world these days.

If we clinch Promotion Saturday I'd be surprised were there not a pitch invasion. It'll be 23 years of frustration finally relieved.
