Love him or hate him, his Chesterfield side are eyeing up a spot EFL pyramid too. I did like Paul Cook but have to admit he tried to change too much at once and never gave himself a chance. He clearly has an eye for a player though as many of our heroes were singings under his stewardship.
I do wish him well though and will be chuffed to bits to see him achieve promotion with the Spireites
What is with the recent campaign of revisionism and sympathy to Paul Cook?
He was sh1t here, and was a dick to the players, behaved like a kid in a sweetshop in the transfer window, then started to blame those new players for his failings.
And I say that as someone for whom Cook was my first choice when Lambert got the heave ho.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

these things help: -sympathy for his sacking when you could see he wanted to succeed for us so much/had just lost his father -the proven success of the players we got in and who were probably swayed by their relationship with cook to drop down divisions. imagine this team without walton, chaplin, morsy & evans, his strike rate was incredibly good
don't get me wrong; i'm so glad we have mckenna now, he's far better, but i bear no ill will towards cook.

Genuinely couldn't care less how he does. He did a really poor job here and rightly didn't last long. I have no ill will towards him but not arsed about him doing well anywhere else either.
we got to thank him for morsy, chaplin, walton , burns etc. if nothing else
forensic experts say footers and spruces fingerprints were not found at the scene after the weekends rows

I bear him no ill will, I'm just bemused that anyone can look back fondly on his time here.

i look fondly on most ex-managers who've had an impact on us:-
magic for his passion, jon walters and the feelgood signings of pablo & kuqi jewell for chambers, mcgoldrick and cresswell mick for his good season, mings and webster hurst for jackson & donacien lambert for kvy cook for chaplin, morsy, walton and evans

It is weird, isn't it? He seems to get credit for dismantling the 2021 squad, but the vast majority of those decisions were pretty straightforward. If all we needed was a guy to say "thanks very much Alan/Cole/Luke/Freddie/Stephen/Oli/Emyr/Jon/Dai/Tomas/Aaron, but we're going to look elsewhere" then we could've hired anyone off here, it would have been much cheaper!
The skill would have been in persuading the one good player in that bunch - Downes - that he wanted to hang about and in identifying the players who were actually pretty decent in amongst all that rubbish (he caught Donacien and Norwood, but missed Woolfenden, Jackson, Wilson and Gibbs, and bizarrely thought Edwards and Nsiala were worth persisting with).
