Any pike fishermen on here? 14:48 - May 21 with 4039 views | Vic | I’m looking for advice - I’ve got a friend coming over from South Africa in a few weeks and he would like to go pike fishing while he’s here. Where are the best place within 2 hrs of Bury St Edmunds to go?

Any pike fishermen on here? on 07:51 - May 22 with 793 views | ElephantintheRoom | How well equipped will you be? Summer is the best time to fish for pike as they are leaner, fitter and more active. It’s an especially good time to fish with lures or fly fishing. If you don’t belong to any clubs you might struggle to find pike holding water. Off the top of my head the river at Grantchester meadows was free - has two good pubs nearby and allows to to hum old Pink Floyd tracks. There are loads of pits around St Ives - and the river is good - especially by the boatyard. You could reach the fens quite easily in two hours - miles of drains there, if a tad bleak. Grafham and Rutland have huge pike - not sure if they allow summer predator fishing though. Like the fens both reservoirs have Zander too. You should pop into fishing tacle shops in Bury and Cambridge - they’ll be happy to advise. Tight lines!

Any pike fishermen on here? on 20:09 - May 21 by Lord_Lucan | Although I always have one I have never been asked to produce my licence in my life. |
What I find unbelievable is you need to have a licence to fish ANY lake or river in the UK. You could be fishing a private lake on your own property, and EA bailiffs would have the right to come onto your property and check you have a licence!
