Relative of a friend did some security work in Saudi (ex special forces). Got paid a pretty penny but his kids (two under 10) and Mrs found it really difficult out there with the cultural differences. |  | | |

My uncle did a few years out there. Lived in a gated concrete jungle, he reckons on the one hand it was 'luxury' with all the on site facilites you could ask for - spa, gym, restaurants etc but rarely left the walls during time off. Got to him after a while and ultimately the money didn't make it worthwhile. Admittedly he wasn't earning £600k a week Henderson money, but still.
Moved back after a few years as my Auntie put her foot down. Now back in Scotland earning half as much but twice as happy. | | | |

I wonder to what extent they actually 'move' out there. Like upping sticks, moving children out of school etc. Given he knows he could be out on his ear in a year maybe he's gone out there on his own, private jets back home in his spare time etc. Quite a sacrifice to make really, but money talks. | | | |
