The Twitter thread asking for contributions is going well.

On a side note, Connor Stringer is a great name for a Daily Mail “journalist”. Could have been a Martin Amis character.

I looked him up and he recently moved to the Mail from the Argus in Brighton. I imagine the editorial line in Brighton was a bit more woke than the Mail, but it probably goes to show that many journalists have to sell their souls to the devil in order to advance their careers. A certain daily national newspaper has today launched a new campaign called... on 15:13 - Aug 4 by BlueBadger | Com on now, it's the national equivalent of a [redacted] thread on TWTD in which they offer an astonishingly stupid opinion, gets the piss ripped out of them and then tries to claim 'trolling'. I took the pis* out of your silly opinion the other day and your immediate reaction was to claim I was trolling. Stupid is as stupid does.

There are plenty of things you can say or do without offending somebody. Being sensible, sensitive to and respectful of other peoples' feelings is a good thing. And that's what woke means. If you look at the origin of this meaning of the world, it comes from the Afro-American community and initially meant people who understood, or tried to understand the issues and problems that the Afro-American community has faced. The word has now come to have a wider meaning. The question for you is why would anybody want to ignore or deride the views, problems and difficulties others face? That's not to say one can't challenge views, but dismissing how people feel or think about things as 'woke nonsense' really does show a lack of empathy and, quite frankly, intellectual maturity.

Yep, woke, which derived from the African American community and has links to the expressions woken and awake, means alert to racial prejudice and discrimination. What the hell is wrong with that?
