So incredibly tired of the media’s fascination with Wrexham 22:58 - Aug 9 with 5497 viewsIllinoisblue

The Sun website headline just now: “Chelsea and Wrexham learn cup opponents” - as if a 4th division side are worthy of such attention. And it’s even spread to here: last night on ESPN their rolling sports ticker highlighted only one league cup result… yep, the Wrexham v Wigan result. Get in the fking bin. Relegation is the only Hollywood ending i want to see.

Astonished nobody has mentioned Salford ... although i think that was more a BBC WANNNKFEST and not so globally media because of that

Salford indeed! The gloss has dimmed on that a little of late. I am sure it will erupt again if they get in to the Championship

The coverage does seem a bit disproportionate but that's not their fault as such. I see many similarities with them and us, hit upon bad times then seemingly getting lucky with proper investment in the team and club and on their way up. Good luck to them.

Yes, the owners have actually been brilliant and well engaged. It's the media's reporting which makes you sick of seeing them everywhere.

It probably helps that the owners are charming, famous - and appear to genuinely want to help the community. I guess media-savvy folk such as these could smell a financial killing from across the Atlantic - but in many ways the global profile of Wrexham is symbolic of football’s decline. To see franchise followers belittling Wrexham when they are buying success through short term chancers from the sale beck of the woods is patently absurd and rather embarrassing

I'm starting to get slight bored of Wrexham but it'll probably stop at some point. Tbh i'm more bored about the media hyping Luton Town's away end to be some "ultra unique one of a kind" when it actually there has been other grounds with a similar end (i.e. Filbert Street)

if they bogged down in L1/L2 for a few years, I expect the novelty will wear off
