Second goal 12:23 - Aug 14 with 2162 viewsitfc48

Apologies to Wes Burns and Kayden Jackson if I'm doing them a disservice here however I thought the second goal was a great illustration of the excellent coaching we now have. Would the old Burns have been so composed in picking out Jackson? I get the impression the old Burns would have taken a touch and then tried to blast it towards the edge of the 6 yard box. Instead, he was calm and waited to pick a great option.
Would the old Jackson have intelligently peeled off like that? He's always had the pace but not necessarily the quality of movement to match.

Don't think you're doing them a disservice. They are, after all, the new burns and new jackson.

Neither of them would have acted in that fashion a year ago, they’d probably be the first to admit that.
I never comment on ITFC players Instagrams etc, mainly because I’d a middle aged man and it’s weird, however I actually found myself commenting on KJs Saturday evening. Apologised for any negative comment I’d said about him previously. He likely won’t see it, but it made me feel a better person!

We’ll be good again... one day

Good movement from Jackson though what the Stoke defenders where doing i'm not sure .

I was certain Jackson was going to stray offside, very good of him to peel back rather than burst in the six yard box.

Poll: An interesting day for our politicians, but which one is worse?

Pretty sure he was offside as Chaplin went forward, perhaps why Chappers played in Burns,

Unless they were certain he was going to be offside (yet none of them appealed!) he had so much space between about 4 defenders

This is what gets me a little bit when some people discuss our defence and quote certain players of ours, as, not being of Championship standard.. Stoke are tipped to do well this season. The defending of the two goals they conceded was shocking...Take nothing away from our goal scorers. But our board would be in meltdown if we conceded like that.
Jackson?..Probably the only player that could keep up with or get ahead of Burns on a lightening break like that. He did well to just check back. And take it first time, instead of taking a touch. Which, imo, an unconfident Jackson might have taken an unnecessary touch.
Whole team looking confident, atm. Everyone doing their jobs...

Burns did exactly that cross last season. Low and infront of the retreating defenders. Im sure thats deliberate.

Jackson took it well. Whilst he may not be suited tobstarting games he could become a specialist for seeing them out.

Poll: best attacking central midfielder?

I don't think any sensible poster is going to say our players/ defenders are not good enough for the championship. But I do worry regards our strength in depth as things stand it looks OK but say after 10 games in we lose a few first choice to injuries similar to last year maybe not so brighter outlook then ? Now think back 12 months our declared transfer policy was to sign players who could play in the Championship so gradually we probably are looking to improve by signing players good enough to compete in the Premier league. Obviously this is going to take several windows but I don't think our owners expect to stand still . If we don't get the players we are looking at at the moment expect us to try and move for 2 or 3 in the next window. Exciting days ahead if all goes to plan .
