When he was young my granddad would drive him to Charsfield F.C. matches for whom they both played. My grandad describes him as very shy and quiet (being a teenager in a team of grown men) but terrifically talented. I used to see him quite a bit when he was working at the Sports club thing at Rushmere, I used to think he was miserable but I guess he was just shy. |  |

I met him at my brother-in-laws funeral earlier this year, not the best time to meet one of the Ipswich greats, obviously, but nice to chat to him about his time at Town. Lovely guy. |  |
